Best Alternative Operating Systems for Microsoft Windows

The first thing comes in my mind when i hear “Operating System” is Microsoft’s Windows, some might get shiny silver Apple pop in to there mind and yes some got vision of cute penguin in there mind.

The race of developing operating systems now a days between Windows 7, Ubuntu 9, Mac OS X… all are different from each other in every point of view.. but without any doubt most used OS development companies (Mircorsoft, Ubuntu, MAC).

Well, i will not discuss about windows 7 or ubuntu or Mac OS but i am going to share few other OS names which i tested inhouse and found them best alternative operating systems for microsoft windows.

Here’s look at some intresting and beautiful alternative approaches and ideas when we going to compare with microsoft OS or Ubuntu or Mac.

ReactOS

I love there motto “Change your OS, not your Software”. well the most favorable project of mine if you want to quit using Microsoft Windows because of there restrictions of use of there windows.

I hope one day they will get there Best OS alternative of Windows in market as currently they are in alpha mode.

gOS

gOS is abbreviation of Good OS which focus on web applications, you can say gOS is the cloud-centric Operating System of today. It comes preloaded with WINE to let you install and use windows based applications.

Jolicloud

Jolicloud is another linux based OS which also focused on web applications but there motto is to built a Operating System for netbooks which have limited hard disk space with low powered computers.

Slax

Slax is a modern, portable, small and fast Linux operating system with a modular approach and outstanding design. Despite its small size, Slax provides a wide collection of pre-installed software for daily use, including a well organized graphical user interface and useful recovery tools for system administrators.

For many of us, story ends at the operating system that comes installed with the computer we buy. Diving into the world of formatting hard disks, BIOS updates and driver incompatibilities in search of “the perfect OS” is certainly not a job for the faint-hearted.
